Most of us desire a peaceful life. Learning to tap into our power is what allows us to make it through challenging times.
The rough patches, while not always easy, are wonderful opportunities to grow and expand who we are. Many of the situations in our lives are created by our thoughts and choices, while others develop outside of us, making us feel helpless. Learning to look within and see that we have the power to transform our reality is where we must begin.
“When we change the way we look at things–the things we look at change.” –Wayne Dyer
What we create on the inside is reflected to us on the outside. We get to choose how we want to feel or what we want to think about. Our internal environment creates our physical reality. So if you choose to feel powerless or defeated, that will be reflected to you by circumstances in your daily life. But if you choose to feel empowered and trust your inner wisdom, even in your lowest moments, life will show up for you in a much more supportive way.
When we do the inner work towards finding peace, the universe responds kindly, with very little struggle. When we find peace within, adversity seems to dissolve on its own.
So how do we tap into our inner power even when we feel it is not something we created? Here are 5 simple ways to begin living in your power:
When you are going through a difficult time, ask “What am I supposed to learn from this situation? What is the lesson in this?” The answers may not come right away, but keep asking. Eventually they will come, and you will be able to look back and realize you had to endure the pain in order to become who you are now.
Change your environment.
I find it so helpful to change scenery when I feel stuck. If you are experiencing heaviness or can’t seem to turn off the thoughts, get up and step out of the environment you are in and move into a different one. When you do so, not only do you feel better, but you begin to recognize that you have the power to create change.
Move your body.
Getting out and exercising, even if it’s a brisk walk, sends endorphins throughout your body, giving you a natural feeling of happiness, calm, and inner strength.
Hugging has been proven to release endorphins just like exercise–so if you don’t feel like exercising, give away a hug and hold it for at least 30-60 seconds. You’ll feel better in no time!
Learning to breathe and to make time for focused breathing every day not only restores your body and mind, but is the key to tapping into your power and connecting to your true Self. When we can see past our physical bodies, and become one with our soul body, miraculous things begin to happen. I teach my students and clients that by just committing to one minute a day is how to begin. For anyone who says they don’t have time–we all have one minute a day to stop and give back to ourselves. And maybe after a few months you move up to five minutes. Find your edge, and commit to a breathing practice.
As you move through your life, practice not becoming the drama; instead, simply be an observer of it. Where intention goes, energy flows. What you put your attention on will grow. So make the choice to feel good rather than feel defeated in life, and know that only you have the power to choose how you want to live.
