The Journey by David Whyte
Above the mountains the geese turn into the light again.
Painting their black silhouettes on an open sky.
Sometimes everything has to be inscribed across the heavens
so you can find the one line already written inside you.
Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that first, bright and
indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart.
Sometimes with the bones of the black sticks left when
the fire has gone out someone has written something new in the
ashes of your life. You are not leaving. Even as the light fades
quickly now, you are arriving.
As you make the brave journey across the days of your life, destiny is waiting for you at each and every turn. As you journey and move forward, think about the following:
- Are you willing to let go of who you once were in order to become who you may be?
- Are you daring enough to find the one beautiful thing that makes you unique, and show up in the world to share it?
It can be easy miss the cues presenting themselves to you when you’re in motion on your journey, but the whispers will become more blatant. Trust that you are being led to a glorious life waiting for your embrace. Once you arrive there, the heavens will part for you–because you have chosen to free yourself from the bondage of the mind, and have stepped into living from your soul.
Be reminded that when you surrender the pieces of yourself that no longer serve any purpose, you are not leaving your life behind. Instead, you are finally arriving at truth, Heaven, and the light of fire that is your soul. It burns for you eternally.
